The ground floor и first floor в британском и американском английском
Давайте взглянем на небольшое, но важное различие в британском и американском английском: названия этажей в здании.
В британском английском языке этаж здания на уровне улицы называется the ground floor . Этаж над ним − the first floor , а этаж ниже называется the basement .
Однако в американском английском языке этаж на уровне улицы обычно называется the first floor . Поднимитесь на один этаж, и вы окажетесь the second floor (который, конечно же, является the first floor для британцев). Этаж ниже уровня улицы называется the basement , так же как и в британском английском.
Также в США можно услышать, что в общественных зданиях этаж на уровне улицы называют the ground floor , как в Великобритании.
Storey, storeys / story, stories
Еще одно важное слово, которое следует здесь рассмотреть, − это storey . Это слово описывает уровень (высоту) здания и общее количество его этажей. Таким образом, мы говорим, что здание имеет eight storeys или an eight-storey building (не забывайте дефис).
От слова storey мы получаем single-storey и multi-storey здания. И чтобы сделать все еще более запутанным, storey часто пишется как story (множественное число stories ) в американском английском.

Что такое граунд флор на Кипре
Как известно, о вкусах не спорят.
Поэтому при покупке или аренде недвижимости на Кипре каждый сам выбирает на каком этаже ему будет комфортно проживать. Если одни получают истинное наслаждение от созерцания закатов с высоты птичьего полета, то другим даже подумать страшно о таком выборе. Как бы там ни было, прежде, чем сделать окончательное решение, обязательно стоит учесть несколько нюансов.
Знаете ли вы, что на Кипре этажи начинают считать со второго?
Возможно, на первый взгляд, это покажется странным, однако все дело в том, что Кипр долгое время был британской колонией. Именно поэтому нумерация этажей в высотных зданиях на острове сохранилась на английский манер.
Придя в гости к киприоту и русскому, проживающим на втором этаже жилого здания, и спросив на какой подниматься, можно получить совершенно разные ответы.
Киприот однозначно скажет, что живет на первом этаже, а вот русский признается в том, что поселился на втором.
А все потому, что в системе нумерации этажей на Кипре любой дом начинается с так называемого «нулевого этажа» — ground floor, который в России считается первым. Этаж, следующий за ground floor, киприот назовет первым — first floor, а россиянин — вторым — second floor.
Обычно в высотных зданиях Кипра на ground floor размещается вестибюль почтовые ящики, лифт, выход на улицу и парковка.
Однако бывают и такие варианты, когда в комплексе на нулевом этаже есть квартиры.
Главное преимущества при покупке или аренде такой недвижимости на Кипре- отдельный вход с улицы.
Это обеспечивает быстрый доступ к квартире. Кроме того, в случае необходимости, например- пожара, выбраться из нее не составит никакого труда и займет считанные минуты.
Нередко в качестве бонуса к квартире ground floor на Кипре прилагается свой небольшой дворик. Это позволяет стать еще и обладателем комфортного пространства, в котором можно отдыхать, проводить бесценное время с семьей или организовывать уютные посиделки с друзьями.
Жильцы «нулевого этажа» на Кипре не зависят от поломок лифта, если это многоэтажное здание. А еще могут делать крупногабаритные покупки, не задумываясь потом о том, как доставить их на нужный этаж.
Жизнь на ground floor понравиться тем, кто не склонен брать на себя заботы хозяина частного дома, но в то же время хочет иметь меньше соседей, нежели владельцы апартаментов на «высоких» этажах. Такой вариант– идеальное решение для семейных пар, у которых дети могут бегать и прыгать сколько угодно, не боясь побеспокоить соседей снизу.
К минусам проживания на ground floor можно отнести:
- Влажность и холод — особенно в случае, если в квартире на полу плитка, а это не редкость на Кипре
- Повышенный риск краж — многие владельцы такой недвижимости в целях безопасности устанавливают решетки на окна, однако не всем может понравиться смотреть через них на окружающий мир
- Постоянный шум — нужно быть готовым, что прохожие и соседи с верхних этажей будут на протяжении дня проходить рядом. Да и проезжающие машины-это не только источник шума, но и выхлопных газов.
Впрочем, всех этих недостатков вполне можно избежать, если обратить внимание на стены, пол, характеристики района в котором вы планируете жить, а также год сдачи объекта недвижимости.
Если снимать или покупать квартиру на ground floor в новостройке Кипра, то скорее всего не придется столкнуться с большей частью вышеописанных проблем, а ориентироваться лишь на личный вкус и предпочтения.
