Обучение в вузах и колледжах Америки

Система образования в США Каждый ученик рано или поздно сталкивается с необходимостью планировать будущее. Процесс непростой, и мы вам поможем, если вы серьезно задумались о высшем образовании в США. Почему стоит получать высшее образование в Америке? Очень важный фактор – нет вступительных экзаменов. Все решают ваши успехи в средней школе. Если вы учились старательно и ваш средний балл 4.0 и выше, вели активную социальную жизнь, шансы поступить очень высокие; Другой приятный момент – поступать можно сразу после получения аттестата. Дело в том, что в Европе необходимо получить специальную квалификацию, так называемое «предвысшее» образование, миновать которое невозможно в силу системы американского образования. Например, В Великобритании это A-Level, Foundation, International Baccalaureate, Pre-U и т.д., в Швейцарии International Baccalaureate или Matura, в Германии – Abitur и т.д. А вот в США можно поступать напрямую после российской школы. Высокий уровень обучения: США гордятся такими университами, как Harvard University, Princeton, Berkeley University, Yale University, Columbia University и множество других учебных заведений с мировым именем. Особенно сильна магистратура в сфере бизнеса, окончание которой гарантирует высокую зарплату; Программа Optional Practical Training даёт возможность получить вид на жительство в США, а в будущем и гражданство. Что важно знать об обучении в США Высшее образование в США очень не похоже на российское. Главное отличие — это необходимость тщательно планировать процесс обучения. Схема достижения целей может очень отличаться, и зависит от множества факторов, таких, как выбранная специальность, уровня владения английским языком, финансовых возможностей, уровня начальной подготовки и т.д. Отметим, что часто происходит путаница в понятиях университет и колледж. Дело в том, что колледжем в США может называться и средняя школа, и учебное заведение профессионального обучения, и высшее учебное заведение. Главное, что надо помнить, это то, что колледжи, дающие высшее образование не дают возможность получения степени магистра, но очень часто предлагают всевозможные профессиональные квалификации. Это дает возможность студентам получить профессиональные квалификации в различных областях, не претендуя на степень бакалавра, например Diploma (2 года) или Advance Diploma (3 года). Ступени вклачают Undergraduate и Graduate. Undergraduate — это программы базового высшего образования в США, которые через два года завершаются либо уровнем кандидата в бакалавры (Associate Degree), либо через четыре года степенью бакалавра (Bachelor’s Degree). Graduate – программы, следующие за степенью бакалавра завершающиеся через 2 – 2.5 года получением степени магистра (Master’s Degree) или степени доктора (Doctor’s Degree). Важно отметить, что существует понятие Postgraduate Study. Не все студенты, получившие первую степень могут или хотят получить степень магистра. В этом случае можно пройти специализированную профессиональную программу, обычно продолжительностью от 6 до 15 месяцев, которая повышает конкурентоспособность выпускника на рынке труда. В результате окончания такой программы студент получает либо Postgraduate Certificate либо Postgraduate Diploma, в зависимости от длительности программы. Эта квалификация очень напоминает нашего специалиста, обучавшегося в университете 5 лет. Степень Associate Degree, срок обучения 2 года (как в очной, так и в заочной форме), присуждается студентам через два года успешного завершения учебной программы. Квалификация имеет направления: The Associate of Arts / A.A. – кандидаты бакалавра искусств, присваивается тем, кто закончил специальности, часто называемых Liberal Arts; Associate of Science / A.S. – кандидаты бакалавра наук, присваивается тем, кто выбрал направление естествознания, и специализируется на естественных науках; The Associate in Applied Science / A.A.S. – кандидаты бакалавра прикладных наук, присуждается тем, кто закончил программы профессионального образования. Степень бакалавра, предполагает 4 или 5 лет обучения в колледже или университете: Bachelor of Arts / B.A. и Bachelor of Science / B.S. – бакалавры наук или искусств. В различных учебных заведениях набор предметов, входящих в список предметов, может трактоваться по разному. Очень важно понять значение и критерии выбора предметов в системе высшего образования в США. Это придает системе очень высокую гибкость и мобильность. В первые два года обучения выбираются предметы, которые должны быть коррелированны с дальнейшей специальностью. Но если в России эта корреляция абсолютная, то в США это не так. На этом этапе важным является, как ни странно, количество часов, которые студент учиться в университете или колледже. Количество часов (обычно 40) называются кредитами. В зависимости от выбранной специальности требуется определенное количество кредитов, набрать которые необходимо для успешного завершения программы. Предметы первых двух лет обучения называются Minor (начальные) , и они состоят из обязательных для будущей специальности, и предметов на выбор, обычно это от 4 до 5 предметов в семестр, по 3-4 кредита каждый. Итого норма для иностранца составляет минимум 12, но обычно 15 -16 кредитов. Предметы выбираются совместно с советником университета, так как предметы по выбору должны быть выбраны так, что бы обеспечить максимальный выбор будущей специальности. Кредиты показывают объем освоенных предметов, а сами предметы – направление дальнейшего обучения. Уровень достигнутых знаний оценивается по Grade Point Average (GPA) – средний балл успеваемости. Он влияет на выбор дальнейшего обучения на 3-4 году, где изучаются предметы, называемые Major. Выбор курсов важен еще потому, что важно, чтобы их результаты признавались (transferrable credits) другими вузами, что бывает не всегда. Надо помнить, что перевод из университета или колледжа в другое учебное заведение всегда возможен, если необходим, пока студент учится на minor, и очень затруднен при переходе на major. При переходе в другой вуз более высокого уровня имеет значение GPA. Степень магистра (Master’s Degree) это следующая ступень образования, призванная дать высшую квалификацию тем студентам, которые в основном, заняты наукой. Степень предполагает следующие квалификации: академическою и профессиональную, Master of Arts / M.A. (магистр искусств) и Master of Science / M.S. магистр наук. Обучение в магистратуре обычно продолжается 1.5 — 2.5 года в зависимости от успехов студента. Отметим Academic Masters (академические магистры), которые присуждаются, как правило, в области традиционных искусств, и гуманитарных дисциплин, точных наук, в том числе в таких областях, сельское хозяйство и машиностроение. Эта степень очень близка по смыслу к российской аспирантуре, и защита диссертации является неотъемлемой частью присвоения степени. Professional Masters (профессиональные магистры). Как правило, такие программы являются «конечными» и не предполагают получение докторской степени. Заканчиваются они присвоением определенной квалификации, такой как Master of Business Administration / M.B.A. магистр делового управления, Master of Social Work / M.S.W. – магистр социалной работы, Master of Education / M.Ed. — магистр образования или Master of Fine Arts / M.F.A. магистр изящных искусств. Сколько все это стоит? Высшее образование в США относится к достаточно дорогостоящему. Наиболее экономичным вариантом является обучение в Community Colleges (местные колледжи), которые дают первую ступень высшего образования в США – Associate Degree. Стоимость курсов колеблется от 7000 до 18000 долларов в год. Проживание существенно зависит от региона, где расположено учебное заведение, Если жить в семье или снимать недорогое жилье самому, то стоимость составит от 6000 до 8000 долларов в год. Обучение в университете стоит больше, 18000 – 45000 долларов в год и зависит от специальности, набора предметов, пользование лабораториями и т.д.
